Known to many as simply “NOBODY” and perhaps unknown to many more as an unknown in contemporary and street art, the New York Artist TMNK continues to garner international recognition. Today, his exhibit ADDICTED TO THE STREETS opens in a remote part of the world known as the artic cirle, as his exhibition opens in Norway remote Northern region, on the Island of Skutvik.
And in true Street Art Fashion, his exhibit will take place both inside and out. Check out how this so-called nobody is leaving his mark on the world.
Where’s Nobody? Yeah, it got back to me that cats think “that I think” that I’m to big/good for the streets… LOL NEVER THAT!
I’ve been in the studio preparing to bring a full frontal visual assault on the territories of Norway and Rotterdam (June 11th and June 23) + I’ve been waxing poetic with asphalt and concrete leaving seeds of love in the streets. Trust me, NOBODY is EVERYWHERE. you’ll SEE
Some truths are simpler than others. Yet, a divisive dialogue continues. These and other thoughts pondered in Addicted To The Streets opening June 11 in Norway.
While my dude Jeffrey Deitch is putting street art on the map with the current exhibit, Art In The Streets, at the MoCA, a certain New York Street artist remains a NOBODY in the game. Only this Nobody, NYC Street Artist TMNK seems to be everywhere. And according to this video being dropped by Young Global Citizens, the street artist they have dubbed their Ambassador of humanity and caring is now coming there.
It’s official, check out the above trailer. Rotterdam is going H.A.M! WOW This is crazy!
Aiiight First, TMNK is gonna bring Tiny Pieces of My Soul to the Hamsun Gallery In Tranøy, Norway June 11, Then off to rock Art Basel Switzerland, June 15, and now ROTTERDAM!
In 2010 NY Street Artist TMNK launched the LIP SERVICE Street Art Project. Over 1000 LIPS Stickers (rumored to be either Lady Gaga or Madonna) were distributed to an army of “nobody’s” around the world. We thought it would be fun to give YOU the audience an easy way to participate, become Street Artists. Slowly the lips began appearing in some of the strangest places. Have You seen these Lips? We’re currently working on several book projects and would love to include YOUR Street Art Makeover, so, SHOW ME YOUR LIPS. So, whether you are the actual artist, or simply want to share a “LIPS” sighting…SHOW US YOUR LIPS! We’d love to see some of the strange and interesting places these LIPS stickers were placed.- TMNK
I received an email today with the subject, Nobody Sets The Mood for Christmas in Norway. When, I opened it, I really didn’t know what to expect. Inside these four photos were attached, along with a very touching message. For those not here to witness my reaction, you would have thought that I had received an email showing my work hanging at the MoMA.
Though many have sent me tightly cropped close-ups of my art framed and hanging on their wall,I LOVE to see my art like this, in it’s new surroundings, telling me a story about it’s new home and the people it now lives with. Thank you so much for this very special gift!
2010 was an amazing year. Norway, Portugal, Miami, omg, simply amazing! So, As I prepare for 2011 (cleaning out my closet and the studio), today I look back and reflect on the memories created in the streets, and with YOU my peeps! I’m so fortunate that WE crossed paths. What was your favorite TMNK memory. C’mon, SHARE.
