God Complex (Day 9 of 100) (mixed media on masonite 18″ x 24″ – approx)
President Obama’s decisions on stem cell research and gay rights have caused a bit of an uproar within the Vatican,
While some say “Yes We Can” others are beginning to say, “Oh no he didn’t.” Its been said that there’s a thin line between love and hate, and separation between church and state is even more complex.
What’s right? What wrong? And God, how does this divine being feel about all this? – TMNK

Heavy Crown (day 7 of 100) (mixed media on masonite 18″ x 24″ – approx)
By the seventh day President Obama fully appreciated the weight on his shoulders. Still resolved, yet there was a decidedly less swagger in his step. Some call these cliches, but I’m sure that by day 7 President Obama called them small truths:
1. Be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it. -
2. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. – TMNK

Under Attack (day 6 of 100) (mixed media on masonite 18″ x 24″ – approx)
President Obama was not in office a week before attacks were made, some authorized by him, others against him. Difficult decisions are ahead. I imagine more than the power he now has, what he really needs is patience and our prayers. – TMNK
Under Attack (day 6 of 100) – 50 Percent of the final Sale/Auction Price will be donated directly to American Red Cross

Yes We Can(day 5 of 100) (mixed media on canvas 24″ x 36″ – approx)
Could it be true? Finally a leader, a President that listens to the people, says what he means and means what he says? He has inspired an entire nation to believe in their individual and collective ability to effect change. Yes We Can. And now all across our nation, average individuals, so called nobody’s like me are answering the charge to do what they can to make a difference in their homes, their churches, and in their communities. Yes, he listened to us, and now a populous, hopeful, energized is listening to him.
So on day 5 of Barack Obama’s Presidency, a street artist named nobody painted with the voice of President Obama echoing in his ear, “YES WE CAN.”
50 Percent of the final Sale/Auction Price Will be donated directly to Volunteers of America.

It may sound silly, but I really do believe God has put a special gift inside each of us, meant to be shared with the world. Some would call it our “calling”. Well I’m asking you to look inside YOU and join me in sharing that gift with somebody, anybody (and then share your stories with me, and I’ll share them on my blog). Together we’ll show the world that EVERYBODY, anybody CAN make a difference, even a nobody like me.
So whether you bid on or buy my art, or not. Whether you share what I’m doing, or not. Just do something for somebody else, even if it’s just giving a stranger a hug. I bet it will make a difference.
What will YOU do differently now that we have a new President? – NOBODY CARE$, TMNK (The Me Nobody Knows)

Artists for Israel? Why Was NOBODY there?
Acts of senseless violence disturb me. And I can not imagine any greater pain than one of my daughters or my son being murdered. Yet, I did not contemplate such pain or agony, until someone who I knew, someone I had spoken to on a Sunday, was murdered the next day. As a man, as an artist, something was forever changed within me. What? I don’t really quite understand it myself. But what I do know is that whatever talents I supposedly have, are GOD GIVEN. So now as I walk through life, I attempt to give something back, to TRY to make a difference. Nothing more, and hopefully nothing less.
Yet, some question my motivation. One recent visitor to my blog left this comment, “You are lying to yourself just keep it 100% you are in for the money but little do you know that by participating you are helping Israel kill kill those poor kids. I hope u can sleep at nite. To that visitor I ask, “what would be the value of my life, the time I’ve been blessed with, If I said nothing, did nothing?”
I’m NOBODY in the world of politics or art. My paintings and the sales there of, hardly make a ripple in the vast pond of life. Yet I know this life of mine, given to me by my creator counts for something. So, instead of tossing stones of hatred, I have chosen each day to toss my insignificant pebbles hoping to inspire love, hope, kindness, unity, belief in self, and daring to think, believe that the ripples of what a nobody like me does might touch the heart, soul or thoughts of another.
As for how I profit from what I do? I was once paid a lot more, to do (and care) a lot less. So I sleep very well at night knowing that I use those talents that God has given me to try to help somebody, to try to make a difference. (And for the record, I did not receive a penny for contributing my he(art) and my voice for PEACE last night).

Wow. Just had an inspiring conversation with a doctor, while painting at Starbucks. Dr. Lambert is his name, and in our brief conversation we waxed philosophical on a number of subjects. He gave me some great tips for my son, the future doctor. We discussed Copyright laws, and he shared this pearl of wisdom about my art, which he said he liked.
“Don’t explain it, it’s more powerful without the stories.” Hmmm, I thought? Perhaps he’s right, yet I thought my stories were part of my art. I’ll reflect on his words of wisdom while anxiously looking forward to your feedback. What do you think? -TMNK

For some reason I can’t sleep late. It’s Insane, I wake up every morning at 4:00AM/4:30AM. Well, as I discovered from a site called DAILY ROUTINES, I’m not alone. History and this site show that quite a few creative thinkers have this same habit (or suffer this same curse).
For Instance, writer John Grisham awakens each day at 5:00AM with the goal of writing a page a day. “…I was very disciplined about it,” he says, then quickly concedes he doesn’t have such discipline now: “I don’t have to.” (taken from San Francisco Examiner, February 5, 2008)
