A Kind Gift From a Stranger

Several years ago I made a habit of secretly drawing portraits of complete

strangers. They would have no idea they were my subjects, as they drank their coffee, or rode the bus or train. No idea, that is, until I surprised them with their portrait as a gift. I had only hoped that I would perhaps make a few people smile along my journey.

Today, one of those strangers returned a gift to me. They contacted me some five years hence, and reminded me of our chance encounter. And shared with me the gift I shared that autumn day. Thanks for Making Me SMile.

Yo, Thanks!

A museum has recently been mulling the addition of one of my paintings to their permanent collection…AND.. From countries like Norway, and Italy, collectors stop thru and add to their private collections, as well as make my art a special gift for their friends, Yo thanks! But most of all, I’ve  been blessed with crossing paths with incredible people who have made me feel like, the story, the journey of this artist mattered.  In the FREEZING cold,  - YO THANKS!  We INSPIRED and were inspired by the youths who heard our voice, Yo thanks! You collected our/my paintings, you helped  raise money for the homeless, for computers - Yo, Thanks!  You help spread a positive message. Yo, thanks! You gave me support, encouragement, friendship, and when I needed it most, you gave me a hug - YO, THANKS!

You helped me believe that I could follow my dreams, while inspiring others to do likewise. You helped me become a better artist, a better father, a better friend . Yo Thanks!!!

And you gave me one of the coolest gifts, I have ever received. Trust and believe, I WILL NEVER FORGET - Yo, thanks!

I am truly honored if my small pebble, my he(art) has made a positive ripple in the pond of  someone’s life  - THANK YOU - Now pay it forward, do something unexpected, kind, dare I say generous for a complete stranger - The World Will be a better place for it - YO, THANKS!
