One Crow

One crow in the garden poses no particular threat. In the early morning, playing amongst the flowers, there are some that would find beauty in its presence. Yes, there’s beauty in my garden. And even that one little black crow, singing its awkward lonely song, belongs.

Consumerism - mixed media on masonite 12″ x 8″
Wants become needs as the consumer becomes consumed. Bought and sold, it seems everything and everyone has a price. Drops of blood intermingled and mixed with drips of paint. You are cordially invited to an exhibition of my soul, and the red dot means this painting has been sold.

Return To Sender

I paint higher than I can reach. Great gifts, and friends have been placed along my path. At times, I’ve been too busy to notice, sometimes clumsily, carelessly, other times arrogantly I’ve hurt or disappointed the bearers of these gifts. So, each day I try to do better. No goody-two-shoes here, Mother Teresa and Ghandi I’m not. But, I’ve never forgotten the gifts, or the kind people that were them or gave them. I fail a lot, still, I like to think I try. It just feels better when I try.
Go ahead, try, you just may find yourself smiling on the inside. - TMNK
Life Is Fine: A Poem and a Painting

LIFE IS FINE - (mixed media and oxidized iron/rust application on Pannelli A Gesso - Cold Pressed Gesso Panel, - (16″ x 20″)
.
I went down to the river,
I set down on the bank.
I tried to think but couldn’t,
So I jumped in and sank.
I came up once and hollered!
I came up twice and cried!
If that water hadn’t a-been so cold
I might’ve sunk and died.
But it was Cold in that water! It was cold!
I took the elevator
Sixteen floors above the ground.
I thought about my baby
And thought I would jump down.
I stood there and I hollered!
I stood there and I cried!
If it hadn’t a-been so high
I might’ve jumped and died.
But it was High up there! It was high!
So since I’m still here livin’,
I guess I will live on.
I could’ve died for love–
But for livin’ I was born
Though you may hear me holler,
And you may see me cry–
I’ll be dogged, sweet baby,
If you gonna see me die.
Life is fine! Fine as wine! Life is fine!- Langston Hughes

Yeah, I do Commissons too. While, mainly I paint what spontaneously pours out of my head, heart, and soul, lately I’ve been doing quite a few commissions. This one is for the wall of one very, very special collector. But Rumor has it that it may end up on the wall of the Asian American Center.

First 100 Greys

I began a series entitled the First 100 days. Fortunately for our country, our President has done far better at keeping his commitments than this artist did completing this series. I think our commander in chief is doing a great job thus far. Still some have made note of an increase in grey hairs. Who wouldn’t with the weight of the world on their shoulders? Heck I’m stressed out just being a dad.
